We went on a lovely trip to Southern
Ireland taking in some breath-taking scenery offered by the West coast.
Seen here starting off from Strathalyn
with Peter, Caroline, Elaine, Stu and Toby!!!!!
Day 1 - 280 miles
Problem is that Numb Nut Critch forgot passport and Driving License, so had to make a dash home from Conway, missing the fast ferry and getting on the slow ferry whilst everyone else continued to the emerald isle! All reunited we met up outside Dublin and headed on towards Killarney. We headed as fast as we could down the motorway, as it was late and we just wanted to make up ground.
Arrived for large beer and pizza at The Heights Hotel in Killarney.
Day 2 - 108 miles
Oh Yes, the weather was perfect and we planned for the Ring of Kerry. Going clockwise so as to avoid the coaches that go anti clockwise.
Head towards Molls gap and then to Kenmare - stunning views lovely winding roads and a real treat that we didn't expect.
Turn right on to the N70 and follow the road. You will not be disappointed. Fabulous, although we were lucky to have such wonderful weather. Stopped at various places
The beach we stopped at for lunch was in between Westcove and Caherdaniel. Peroni on tap; what could be more perfect.
Travelling passed where the last scene
from Starwars was filmed....
and onwards to Portmagee for lunch taking
the Skellig Ring (R566) from Waterford. This is stunning!!!!! That's all I can
say - Stunning!!
We took a detour and went to Knight's Town and crossed the little ferry, before re-joining the N70 returning to Killarney. Evening out in Killarney, reminiscing over the brilliant day we had just experienced.
Day 3 - 234 miles
Leaving Killarney and taking
the N22 and R569 to Kenmare.
N71 from Kenmare going into County Cork - what a fantastic road, winding, sweeping raising and falling road through Glengarriff Woods Nature Reserve is certainly
to be enjoyed.
Another treat for us taking the road to Skibbereen and up to Cork
and then up to our final stop over at Abbeyleix
Good breaky at
the Abbeyliex Hotel!!
Day 4 - Destination Home 194 miles
Making our way to Dublin Port taking the
Wicklow Mountains on and the old Military Road - yes please I'd like to do that
one again!! Absolutely stunning (again)
Across on the fast ferry to Holyhead and
home through Llamberis, the Pen-y-Pass, Betwsy, Llandegla.
A really great holiday with the Intrepid
Biker Guys!! See you soon Stu and Elaine - safe trip back home !!
